All proceeds from downloads of the single will be donated to the Polish Centre for International Aid (PCPM) for the benefit of refugees from Ukraine.

In the face of the outbreak of another war, when fear mixes with hatred, and in different parts of the world the ongoing armed conflicts keep bringing suffering to the innocent, three artists broached the topic of mourning the victims of these tragedies with a different approach. The piece "Lamento", which is the result of the meeting of Laure Slabiak (BlauBird) and Weronika Kulpa at the invitation of Roman Wróblewski, is an inter-linguistic journey into the depths of one of the oldest traditions of lament.

Laure Slabiak, who performs under the pseudonym BlauBird, is responsible for the lyrical layer of the song. The artist uses four languages in her improvisation: Aramaic, Hebrew, Latin, and Yiddish. In choosing the colours, sounds, and, most importantly, the meaning of the language, Slabiak suggested a personal story related to her background and the words written in the Jerusalem Talmud: "Latin is adapted for war, the language of the host country for hymns, Hebrew for discussion, and Aramaic for lamentation."

The musical theme and first prayer are "Kol Nidrei" sung in Aramaic. The words כָּל נִדְרֵי "all our vows" resound with the heavy, low, piano notes played by Roman Wroblewski and the lamenting sound of Weronika Kulpa's cello reminds us of the frailty of our human nature. Also woven into the piece is the phrase Et in Terra Pax, Latin words calling for peace. Then we hear the Jewish orphans' prayer Kaddish Yatom: "Yitgadal v'yitkadash sh sh'mei raba." Despite the pain of loss, Kaddish expresses our desire to rely on God, our hope for a better and more just future.

The second part of "Lament" is a lullaby in Yiddish: "Shlof zhe mir shoyn, Yankele, mayn sheyne. Mayn yingele..." - " Sleep fast, Yankele, my beauty.... my child... " The composition ends with the words of the "Modeh Ani '' prayer and the morning prayer of gratitude for another day: "Modeh Ani Lefane'ha...". The lament of the cello fades and the soft sounds of the piano bring a moment of solace.

Laure Slabiak: "There, among our memories, among the fragments of songs, words, and prayers we carry with us, is that which is sacred, our love, our humanity, and our ability to live one more day, to try to love always. Maybe that will reassure us and placate others. Maybe..."

The sound layer is complemented by a subdued image shot by Konrad Kulczynski (Kulczynski Filmlab) during a recording session held in March this year at the Tall Pine Records studio and a cover in the form of a photo by Tomasz Mrowinski, depicting the wall of the European Solidarity Centre building in Gdansk.
